This is one of mine guilty pleasures – my own, home made pizza! It doesn’t even matter what king of topping I’ll use – it always be a success! Not to say about my hubby, who is crazy about it! The recipe is pretty simply, yet time consuming so if you have that time – check out the recipe and try it yourself!

I’ve made individual pizzas, since it’s easier for me. The pizza dough recipe can make either 3 large pizzas (4+ persons each) or around 7 individual pizzas.

Pizza Dough:
All purpose Flour 500 grams
Active dried yeast – 1 package
200 ml of warm water
Olive oil 60 ml

How to cook the dough:

Mix flour with dried yeast. Make a whale and pour the warm water inside, mix with a wooden spoon. Add the olive oil. If you’ll see that pizza dough is too sticky – add little bit more flour.
Evenly spread some flour on the table/counter top and start working with dough with your hands by slightly beating and mixing it until it all will be even.

Place it in the bowl that has been coated lightly with olive oil, cover with plastic wrap and leave in the warm place to double the size for 1 hour.

Once that done punch it down, cut the dough and form in balls – 3 for large pizzas or 6-7 for small, individual ones.

Preparing:

Place a pizza stone on a rack in the lower third of your oven. Preheat the oven to 450°F for at least 30 minutes, preferably an hour.

Prepare your desired topping:
I’ve used the tomato sauce, tomatoes, few chunks of turkey and cheese. You can improvize with any topping you like, love or simply with the leftovers from the fridge.

Work one ball of dough at a time. Take one ball of dough and flatten it with your hands on a slightly floured work surface. Starting at the centre and working outwards, use your fingertips to press the dough to 1/2-inch thick or less if you like thin crust like I do. Turn and stretch the dough until it will not stretch further. Let the dough relax for a few minutes and then continue to stretch it until it reaches the desired diameter.

Brush the top of the dough with olive oil, so it won’t get soggy from the toppings.

Start improvizing with tomato sauce and toppings. I’ve covered each pizza with 3 1/2 table spoons of tomato sauce, 1 medium sliced tomato, few chunks of turkey and sprinkled it with the cheese on top.

Sprinkle some flour or semolina on top of the pizza stone so that your pizza wont stick while baking.

Bake pizza one at a time until the crust is browned and the cheese is golden, about 10-15 minutes. More cheese can be added few minutes before it will be taken out of the oven.

Few advices:
If you will cook the pizza often – invest in the pizza stone. I’ve bought mine on sale fr around $15, you can find it even cheaper. You can even bake cookies or bread on it 🙂

Be careful! Pizza stone gets TOO HOT so don’t get burned (like I did when I tried to cook it for the very 1st time)

Let the pizza cool down few minutes right after you’ll take it out, it will be much taster then!
