Sometimes when doing online shopping I also learn new words 🙂 . For example, buying this new top and referring to it as “eyelet” I found out that it was actually a “broderie anglaise” so yeah there is a lot more to online shopping than just impulse buys.
I’ve already posted this top to my Instagram once and the feedback was amazing – everyone loved the top and its detailing. So when we went for a basic city stroll I decided to take a few outfit pictures, even if the outfit was very simple.
It was a very humid day so the “baggy” side of this look was perfect for that. I think this outfit will be perfect for a tropical getaway, just switch the shoes to flip flops and add a straw hat.
Below you’ll find some of the tips on how to dress broderie anglaise:
- Leave out candy colors – if you are anywhere from 15 to 99+ I’d suggest to go with the solid, classic colors. White, blue, navy, cream, black or moderate pastels will look great on almost everyone, but cotton candy pink reminds me of a baby or a dolly wear.
- Broderie anglaise is the younger sister of lace – and that is why it looks so good for any casual outdoor activity, eating ice-cream during the city stroll or even wearing it as an office wear (in dark navy or black colors), while the lace is more for a “drinking cocktail on the patio“ occasion.
- For those who are a bit shy – stick to one item only, like a bag or shoes featuring this pattern.
