Today I want to share with you an awesome recipe of a cocktail, bring light to one of our favorite soft drinks and also share my experience from the great night I had with Jarritos Canada at La Carnita in the beginning of November.
If you are a Mexican food lover, you probably know about iconic Jarritos soda and my husband is a fan of it. I mean every time we order a take out, I can see him leaving with a Jarritos Mandarin soda in his hand, smiling and trying to drink it before I’ll ask for a sip (Every. Single. Time.).
What I love about it? First and foremost, it’s naturally flavored. Secondly, this soda is not as fizzy as other carbonated drinks, which is a great option for cocktails! Lastly, it is also made with cane sugar (give me a hands up emoji for that) and yeah, it is my hubby’s fave.
So what did we experience at the event?
We were all invited for the celebration of the Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday that “focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey”.
We enjoyed a Mexican feast with traditional food, including guac & chips (my forever love), mouth drooling corn, oh-so-tasty tacos and many more alongside with delicious cocktails!
The menu was exceptionally good with one item that was actually not in the menu (just look how awesomely decorated it is)!
It was my first time trying tamale (been in Mexico 3 times now, feel so bad for not trying it before) and it was loooove at the first bite! What made it even more tasty? Of course, my super fresh cocktail with Strawberry Jarritos.
I was even able to take the cocktail recipe with me so here is my variation of it (I only added one ingredient, so I will add it to ingredients description).
For the Strawberry for the Souls cocktail you’ll need:
- 2 oz Tequila
- 1 oz Lemon Juice
- 3 oz Coconut Water
- 3 oz Strawberry Jarritos
- 1 oz Orange Juice (my addition)
- Fresh strawberry & dehydrated lemon wheel (you can also put other berry/fruit garnishing).
- Combine all the liquids in a shaker, shake lightly.
- Strain contents into a glass (or a mason jar – preferred) over fresh ice.
- Top up with Strawberry Jarritos, garnish and enjoy!
