The kitchen is the heart of the home and your heart may just beat faster once I’ll tell you about the LG Kitchen Event I’ve attended in the end of September.
I had a great opportunity to not only learn more about the LG Black Stainless Steel appliances, design and new features, but also to use them!
At first we met with the chef Chuck Hughes, who showed me how to pickle. While we were preparing the brine I had the chance to use the fridge, the stove and, drum roll…Slide Out Vent from the Over the range microwave.
Or as I’ve named it my “knock-knock, who’s there” fridge. It does have a proper name and a unique, stand out feature, which by the way is a J.D. Power Award Winner.
This door-in-door model has one thing that is absolutely outstanding.
Everything in our world these days is instant. As the progress goes far we grow with it as well, so now when you’ll wake up in the middle of the night to go and grab some drink (or snack) you won’t have to stay there mindlessly looking into the fridge thinking what should it be milk, juice or water.
Just knock on it, see what’s inside, think and decide what you need, and only then open. Not only saving the energy, but also helping the environment.
Now for all families with kids, as chef Chuck shared with me, this fridge makes parents’ life much easier. First of all you can control what your children grab to snack because you can display all the healthy snacks right there in this InstaView™ door. Plus, this playful element of knocking will make the process fun!
It might not sound that exciting to you, but it was very exciting to me to learn about the slide-out vent feature and I’ll explain why.
If you are just like me and cook almost daily you know how hard is to get the steam out of the way with over the range microwave fan. The problem is in its size. It covers only the rear of the cooktop (which I don’t use that often).
So what impressed me that much with LG model? Well, you can probably tell it by its name it’s extendable!
It covers the entire cooktop and solves all the unnecessary steam out of the way and eliminates all the cooking smells waaaaaay faster!
Another big surprise. I have never seen that you can boil something that fast! You can also call it instant, just because I wasn’t even half through the process of deciding which vegetable I’ll pickle and the brine was already boiling!
As I was explained after that this is because of LG’s fastest boiling element, which is like winning a lottery for a person who does eggs for breakfast and cooks pasta for dinner (like we do).
Now we have come to the design and style part.
I had a chance to talk to the lovely Jane Lockhart about trends and design so here is the best part of it:
For the past year darker kitchen has been trending and the anthracite and graphite colors are coming more and more in interior design these days.
I would call the appliances “the updated black”, which is more of a charcoal and according to Jane “Dark grey, charcoal or black colors really help sharpen the kitchen in terms of design and color.” This is where LG Black Stainless Steel appliances is a win win solution as not only they look bold, but also help to sharpen up your kitchen design.
Why black stainless steel?
This line is a newer version of a stainless steel, and is more sophisticated. It is less shiny, which is not as prominent in your eyes as a glossy bright color, and has a less industrial look than traditional stainless steel (on my photos you can see the use of the LG Black Stainless Steel appliances within the stainless steel kitchen).
It is also fingerprint and smudge resistant, so besides it being way easier to clean it is also a big plus if you have kids.
I personally think that these LG Black Stainless Steel appliances are a very stylish alternative to the traditional stainless and will have a great success and demand.
How To Pickle (recipe I tried at the event):
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1/3 cup of white vinegar
- 2 garlic cloves (cut in half)
- pinch of salt, pinch of sugar
- 1/2 cup of veggies of your choice (mine was cauliflower, green beans, little carrots, bell pepper)
- Pour the water and vinegar into a small pan, add a pinch of salt, sugar, spices into a small pan bring to boil.
- Place veggies & garlic in a glass jar and pour over the hot liquid.
- Leave until they come to room temp and then serve or chill in the fridge!
